Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A young man who thought jumping into a water filled cenote would spare him from an arrest ended up handcuffed wet. The young man police have since identified as José “N” jumped into a cenote to avoid being captured by police.
He made the leap while trying to run away after being surprised by their presence. While running through a jungle area near Bahía de Plenity Street, he saw the cenote hole and jumped in.
After retrieving him from the water, arresting officers located his loaded handgun. José “N” was handcuffed from the In-House area of west Playa del Carmen on weapons charges.
