Police facilities scheduled for expansion to accommodate PDC growth

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Municipal police facilities are scheduled for an expansion to accommodate the growing city of Playa del Carmen. Raúl Tassinari, the head of Public Security and Transit, says next year the buildings will undergo important upgrades and expansion projects.

Tassinari said the police facilities have not received proper maintenance in years, which has led to significant deterioration. Although effort have been made to keep the buildings operational, the accumulated wear and tear has made the project more urgent.

“The police station already requires major work due to its years of service and the operational load it faces. These projects are essential to improve the working conditions of the staff and offer a better service to the citizens,” said the Secretary.

In addition to repairs, an expansion of the barracks is planned for 2025. This project would include increasing the police force with the incorporation of up to 300 new elements, depending on the budget allocated in the next fiscal cycle.

He says the renovation and expansion of the facilities is not only to improve current conditions, but also to prepare the corporation to face the security challenges that grow with the development and increase in population in Solidaridad.
