Janos, Chihuahua — An active police director in the municipality of Janos was killed after being shot while resisting arrest. The incident happened Sunday morning involving fellow officers.
According to the State Attorney General of Chihuchua, the now deceased, Higinio “S”, was the Director of Security of the Municipality of Janos. Arresting officers were forced to fire warning shots during a confrontation while trying to take him into custody.
He was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries. Higinio “S” was shot by a military officer while they were serving an arrest warrant for abduction, attempted murder, extortion and abuse of authority.
At the time of his arrest, he resisted and tried to flee while threatening military personnel with a firearm. Authorities involved in his arrest were forced to repel the aggression by firing warning shots.
“For this reason, the troops were forced to repel the aggression by firing warning shots, where one of the projectiles hit the policeman in the right buttock,” explained the prosecutor’s office.
Higinio Solís was taken to a hospital in the city of Nuevo Casas Grandes to receive medical attention, where “hours later, he was declared dead because the wound (sic) crossed an important artery,” the FGE reported.
“At the scene, a 9mm caliber pistol with a metal magazine and two cartridges were seized with which the Municipal Public Security element tried to flee and confront the elements of said corporations,” the Office added.
