Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Solidaridad police continue to search for the driver of a truck found demolished in a highway accident. Emergency personnel responded to reports of a destroyed pickup on the federal highway south of Playa del Carmen Saturday morning.
When they arrived, they found the truck but no driver. The single vehicle crash happened near Punta Venado. It was around 7:00 a.m. when motorists reported seeing the truck slam into a highway post.
Members of the National Guard were first on scene. They located the totaled white Nissan pickup truck on the side of the road without license plates. Traffic was affected for about an hour during the removal of the crumpled truck.
Police continue to search for the driver since it is not known if they fled the scene or were taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.
