Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A worker who fell from a scaffolding Friday at a Playa del Carmen construction site has died from his injuries. The accident happened at an office building across from the Plaza Las Américas shopping center.
Reports say the man was working on the scaffolding when it collapsed, causing him to fall from the sixth floor to a terrace located on the second level. He suffered several fractures and a severe head injury.
The unidentified man was rushed to hospital, but passed away.
Emmanuel Hedding, operational director of Civil Protection of the Solidaridad City Council, says that work on the building will remain suspended while the pertinent investigations are carried out.
