Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen’s new mayor, Lili Campos, says that the municipality will not continue with the Single Command Police. She says that the municipality will sign a police coordination agreement with the state government via the Ministry of Public Security.
“It’s not about knowing who’s boss, but about working better and being attentive. Public Security is going to support us with equipment, weapons and patrols, since we only received 18 in operation,” she explained.
Campos said the new contract will be signed as soon as possible, adding “we have to move fast to have more patrols and uniforms for this year so that the corporation has more tools to provide better service.”
Among changes in police is the appointment of new commanders by the secretary of Public Security and Municipal Traffic of Solidaridad, Raúl Alberto Tassinari Gonzále. The newly appointed commanders will head the directions that make up the corporation.
He presented William Bastarrachea de León as the Undersecretariat of Public Security. Gabriel González Ornelas is the new director of the Preventive Police, while Arturo Pech Martínez has been appointed Traffic Directorate.
Director of the Tourist Police is Gerardo Arzate Jiménez and in the Legal Department, Aurelia Amador Morales. The Directorate of Internal Affairs is now Adolfo Álvarez Ramírez and Edgar Villa for the Directorate of Citizen Participation and Crime Prevention.
Commander Raúl Tassinari says that a new era of public security in Solidaridad begins with the commitment to reinforce surveillance throughout the municipality, change the image of the corporation, maintain communication and closeness with residents, as well as reinforce strategies and coordinated work with the security institutions to deal with crime and reduce crime rates.
