Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A taxi that was stolen after the driver was tasered has been recovered. The unusual incident took place Monday night when the Playa del Carmen taxi driver stopped to let off his passengers in Villas del Sol.
Annoyed at the amount of the fee, the backseat passengers tazared the driver before physically abusing him and stealing his taxi. The Lázaro Cárdenas del Río Union taxi was located by other drivers after the injured driver requested assistance from collegues.
The stolen unit was located Tuesday afternoon in the Bellavista neighborhood. It was found parked outside gates of a private home around 1:00 p.m. Police have not said if arrests were made or if the car was left there abandoned.
The taxi driver was able to flee his attackers and get help. He was treated in hospital for taser burns as well as punches to the head and a machete cut to one of his ears.
