Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A member of the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río taxi drivers’ union was rushed to hospital with two gunshot wounds after being chased and shot by fellow taxi drivers.
The shooting was recorded by police Friday morning in the El Pedregal neighborhood when taxi driver Wilbert J.M. was chased by two other taxis whose occupants began firing. Dumping his unit on 75th Avenue, the taxi driver then began to flee on foot.
The injured taxi driver was taken to the General Hospital for attention to his two bullet wounds, while the State Attorney General’s office arrived to tow his taxi, which was left with broken side windows from bullet impacts.
