Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A taxi driver was taken to a Playa del Carmen hospital Friday after being assaulted by passenger. Another passing taxi driver noticed the female driver and stopped to help.
She had been hit in the back of the head with a blunt object during an alleged assault by her passenger. The incident was reported outside a Riviera Maya theme park around 10 kilometers south of Playa del Carmen.
A fellow taxi driver was traveling the Riviera Maya highway when he saw the taxi pulled over and the woman driver struggling with her door open. She was found alone and bleeding from her head.
The passing taxi driver put her inside his car while he called for an ambulance.
Initially, the woman thought she had been shot, however, a medical assessment revealed she had been hit in the head by an object.
Exact details surrounding the 3:30 p.m. assault are not known.
