Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A taxi driver from the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río union in Playa del Carmen was arrested from his unit after a passenger reported him to police for robbery.
After leaving the taxi in the residential area of In House, the woman ran for help, asking someone to call 911. Police responded to the call and learned that the female taxi passenger was threatened at knife-point and robbed of her belongings by the taxi driver.
Municipal Police in several patrols participated in the search for the taxi driver and his car. He was located along Avenida Juárez. Upon checking the inside of his unit, they found the belongings of the assaulted woman who identified the taxi driver as her aggressor.
He was taken into custody by elements of the Ministry of Public Security and Municipal Traffic of Solidaridad.
