Playa del Carmen seafood restaurant shot up for refusing extortion demands

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The outside of a Playa del Carmen seafood restaurant has been reportedly riddled with bullets after refusing to comply with extortion demands. Police were on site Tuesday where they collected dozens of shell casings from the street.

The restaurant, located in Nueva Creación, had its exterior shot up as they were opening around noon. Reports say the shooting was in retaliation for non compliance of an extortion attempt.

Two subjects aboard a motorcycle were seen by restaurant staff as they opened fire against the building. Police have not reported injuries in the shooting. Several years ago, the same restaurant was the victim of an arson attack.
