Playa del Carmen police officer injured during pursuit

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Playa del Carmen police officer suffered injuries Tuesday night after he was hit by motorcycle during a chase.

The unidentified officer suffered a fractured ankle after his bike was hit by another during a chase along avenida diagonal 85. While the officer was in pursuit of a man on a motorcycle, the man collided with the policeman, who lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the central ridge.

During the crash, the police officer fractured his left ankle. Assistance was called for, however, officers were unsuccessful at locating the man.

The injured officer was transferred to the IMSS for medial treatment.
