Playa del Carmen police locate and jail three for kidnapping

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Three males have been jailed in Playa del Carmen on kidnapping charges. Their arrests stem from an incident that happened in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood Tuesday night.

According to a statement from Seguridad Pública Solidaridad (SSP Solidaridad), the three men approached a male who was working on a motorcycle at his shop on 50th Street.

Assuming they were customers, he proceeded to talk with them. While doing so, one pulled out a knife and robbed him of approximately 7,000 peso among other items. The man was then forced to sit, being held against his will for several hours before one of the men demanded ownership papers for the motorcycle. Instead of going to get those papers, he called police.

Police began a search operation and were successful in locating all three men. They were returned to the scene where the victim positively identified them. Jailed on kidnapping charges were 33-year-old Juan “N” from Quintana Roo and 44-year-old Edgar “N” and 48-year-old Alejandro “N”, both from Mexico City.
