Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Three men have been arrested by Playa del Carmen police after a business owner reported them for attempted extortion. Police patrolling the Colosio neighborhood were stopped and notified of a threatening hand-written note that was delivered to him in-person at his business.
He explained that a man had entered and left him the threatening note which demanded the payment of floor rights. After providing a description of the man and the car, police were successful in locating the white Sentra on El Pedregal Avenue.
During an inspection of the vehicle, police found telephone equipment, a laptop, a notebook with annotations of names, addresses and amounts, including the name of the business owner who had just made the extortion report.
Arrested were 41-year-old José Erik N of Veracruz, 43-year-old Wenceslao N from Quintana Roo and 44-year-old Fidel N, also from Veracruz.
