Playa del Carmen police capture alleged ATM thief hitting central machines

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police from the Secretariat of Public Security of Solidaridad captured an alleged ATM thief. The man was captured in the center of the city over the weekend after a security guard reported him to police.

According to the SSP of Solidaridad, a shopping plaza security guard on Avenida Constituyentes with Avenida 30 reported to police that he had seen a man manipulating an ATM slot with a metal plate.

The man, realizing that he was being watched, fled. The security guard was able to provide police with a physical description of the man, which lead to his location and capture. Playa del Carmen police reported on the arrest of 43-year-old Miguel “N” from Puebla.

Police located Miguel “N” on Avenida 30 with Calle 12 bis in possession of the metal plate. After his arrest, police officers proceeded to inspect the ATMs in the shopping plaza area, finding two machines with metal plates inserted into the slots.

“Due to the above, the subject was insured and made available to the State Attorney General’s Office,” they agency reported.
