Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Playa del Carmen pedestrian who was hit by a car has died of his injuries. The accident was reported along Playa del Carmen Boulevard when the young man was crossing the roadway in a marked crosswalk.
While in the crosswalk, the driver of a leased Nissan struck him. Emergency services responded to the 5:20 a.m. call for assistance where they found the victim, a 25-year-old man, laying in the median of the roadway.
He was rushed to the General Hospital of Playa del Carmen but died of his injuries. Traffic police arrived and proceeded to arrest the unidentified driver. The car was towed to the city corral.
