Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The municipality of Solidaridad, in coordination with Sistema de Desarrollo Integral de la Familia (DIF), began a low-cost transport service for the disabled.
María Elba Carranza of DIF, along with Plays del Carmen mayor Laura Beristain Navarrete, were on hand to initiate the new transportation system.
In a press release from del municipio de Solidaridad, its mayor said “This afternoon is a celebration because we reaffirm our total empathy towards people with disabilities. Through this work we promote a government of respect and support for vulnerable people and we seek to continue promoting the culture of inclusion.”
Carranza Aguirre said that the goal of the new service is to dignify the sector and offer another tool for inclusion, adding that all persons with disabilities can travel comfortably to any point of the municipality since the units have features such as ramps and safe seats.
She noted that that drivers are trained to serve users according to their physical needs, but above all, with a sense of empathy and respect.
The city says the service costs 20 percent less than a taxi and can be requested through a call or message Whats App to 984 133 6692 every day from 6:30 a.m. to 21:00 hours. Another unit will also serve Puerto Aventuras, offering the same accessible costs and flexible schedules.
