Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A motorcyclist ended up with serious injuries Sunday after he was struck by a car. The accident was witnessed in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood at 6:40 p.m. Paramedics arrived and transported the man to hospital.
Reports say the male driver of a red Ford Fiesta failed to stop at a marked intersection, colliding with the oncoming motorcycle. The impact sent the driver off his bike and face down in the middle of the busy roadway.
Police were on site to direct traffic while paramedics attended to the seriously injured man. The driver of the car allegedly attempted to flee the scene but was captured and held by witnesses until police arrived.
