Playa del Carmen mayor says 300 million set aside for public works

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The mayor of Playa del Carmen says more than 300 million peso in public works will take place within the next year. In a press release, Lara Beristain says historical public work projects will be done throughout the municipality of Solidaridad.

She detailed that the municipality will receive 168 million peso from the Contribution Fund for Municipal Social Infrastructure and the Contribution Fund for Municipal Strengthening to which are added another 125 million from tax resources. The total of work will be just over 3.6 million peso.

“In Villas del Sol, the construction of garrisons, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, rehabilitation of parks, bicycle lanes and public lighting on main avenues, as well as improvements in Public Security facilities and a new subcomandancia are planned,” said Beristain.

According to information from José Luis Castillejos, the Director of Public Works, the projects are contemplated by priority attention zones such as the construction of a municipal health center in Puerto Aventuras.

The mayor also stated that in Puerto Aventuras, the construction of a new municipal pantheon, a subcomandancia, domes and sports fields in three schools, absorption wells and public lighting are being planned, as well as the second stage of the San Valentín flea market.

She also mentioned work in the first square of Playa del Carmen along with the third stage of Fifth Avenue and the improvement of urban infrastructure in Av. 10 from the center.
