Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A new Argentinian Consulate has opened in Playa del Carmen. On Thursday, mayor Lili Campos was part of the inauguration team along with consular representation Lautaro Filchtinsky.
She said the new consulate office will ensure diplomatic and friendly relations between the two countries and reiterated her support for the Argentine community, both residents and visitors, through different departments of the municipal government.
“We are going to give them the support because we want that communication, this relationship, this coordination that the entire Argentine community needs to exist,” said Campos.
She reported that the office was opened due to the demand for diplomatic assistance in the Mexican Caribbean since, by decree of the Argentine government, the Playa del Carmen consulate will have jurisdiction in Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Campeche and also Belize.
There are currently around 15,000 to 20,000 Argentinians residing in the Mexican Caribbean that can now be served by the new consulate office in Plaza Riviera Centre of Playa del Carmen.
