Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Residents of a home under construction in Playa del Carmen will be forced to start over after a fire destroyed what was built.
The fire happened in the city’s irregular community of InHouse in the far west. It was at 3:20 a.m. when neighbors awoke to the smell of smoke and sight of flames that were seen shooting from the open door and window frames of the home.
Emergency 911 personnel sent police and medical units to respond to the report of the fire. Municipal police quickly arrived to assess the area while firemen were on the way. Members of the Playa del Carmen fire department were successful in extinguishing flames. There were no reported injuries or a possible cause for the blaze.
