Playa del Carmen firemen respond to central palapa fire

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A central palapa fire late Friday consumed a building and two vehicles. Playa del Carmen firemen were sent to the Xaman-Ha area of the city late Friday where they arrived to smoke and flames.

Area residents requested the assistance of firemen who were on scene for more than a hour extinguishing flames that reportedly originated in the palapa of a hotel. Municipal police and National Guard were also on scene to control curious pedestrians and traffic.
