Playa del Carmen gets its own SRE federal government services office

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The city of Playa del Carmen now has its own Ministry of Foreign Relations (SRE) office for the municipality. The announcement of the new office was made by city official Yazmín Janette Díaz Ojeda.

She said that the office was open in Playa del Carmen after data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cancun revealed between 80 and 100 processing requests a day for residents of Solidaridad.

Instead of going to Cancun, Playa del Carmen residents can now complete their passport and other federal government procedures in the office located in Plaza Paseo Corazón.

She also said that the city required its own SRE office since it is one of the fastest growing municipalities in the nation by population growth. That growth, she explained, has seen an increase in citizen needs for the federal service.

Yazmín Janette Díaz Ojeda says the new Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (SRE) office can not only issue and renew passports, but it can also provide construction permits, issue birth certificates for Mexican nationals and the dissemination of scholarships, among other services.
