Playa del Carmen, Q,R. — The State Attorney General’s Office of Quintana Roo will assist the FGR in a case where a little girl was killed in an elevator accident in a Playa del Carmen hospital.
Raciel López Salazar, the acting head of the FGE, says the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) will take over the investigation. He says the FGR will continue with the investigation because the IMSS is a decentralized agency of the Federal Government.
After a legal technical analysis, it was determined that in accordance with Article 5 of the Social Security Law, and in relation to applicable federal laws, it is a crime of federal jurisdiction.
“We will collaborate in everything necessary with the federal authorities so that the investigation advances and the person or persons responsible for this unfortunate event are punished in accordance with the law,” Raciel López Salazar said.
The Interim Prosecutor added that in addition to IMSS being a decentralized body, the concession for the elevator maintenance service is of a federal nature, so the FGR will conduct the investigation.
