Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Playa del Carmen driver who skewered his compact car remains critical in hospital. The single vehicle accident happened Wednesday morning on the outskirts of the city on the El Tintal highway.
The driver, Mario “S”, lost control of his car approximately five kilometers after the police checkpoint. While he survived, he was rushed to a PDC hospital in critical condition.
Police continue to investigate exactly how the car became skewered by the metal guardrail. Mario “S” was the sole occupant of the vehicle when the accident occurred. Due to the seriousness of the crash, he has not yet been able to tell police what happened.
