Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A combi van that failed to respect a mandatory stop ended up colliding with a Municipal Police patrol unit. The collision took place at an intersection along 30th Avenue that left the patrol hung-up on a pile of sand, but not before it hit a motorcyclist.
The report indicates that the driver of the combi was traveling at a high rate of speed when he attempted to pass through the intersection, failing to respect the right of way of the patrol.
A mound of sand outside a private home became the final resting place for the police truck, however, before running up on the sand, the unit collided with a scooter. The driver of the scooter managed to leap from his bike before being hit. He was left with only minor injuries.
