Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A large boat that had slammed up against a beachfront property was removed by its owner. On Saturday, a boat that was dragged by current and driven by strong winds ended up slamming into the side of a Playa del Carmen hotel.
Vessel Juneper, was photographed by Civil Protection on Playa Shangri at 38th Street before being removed from the beach by machinery.
Days of strong winds and even stronger gusts caused the vessel to break free of its mooring and collide with the beachfront hotel. Juneper was anchored in the Chenzubul area and found up against the hotel around 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
The owner of the vessel arrived and hired heavy machinery to remove it from the beach. The incident happened a few hours after the Port Captaincy closed navigation to small vessels for the third consecutive day.
