Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man was rushed to Playa del Carmen hospital in serious condition after being hit by a car. The adult man was struck around 2:00 p.m. while riding his bicycle across Flor de Ciruelos Avenue.
The accident happened near a residential entrance. According to reports, the bicyclist shot out from the Avenue in an attempt to cross over at the same time the Honda Civic approached.
The driver of the car struck the bicyclist, throwing him to the ground. Paramedics found the man laying on the road unconscious and with severe head injuries.
City police were called in. Witnesses claimed the driver of the car was speeding. The front end and windshield of the Honda was damaged from the collision. The male driver was taken in for questioning.
