Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — State officials shut down a party at a Playa del Carmen beach club after they were found in violation of health regulations. Personnel from the Federal Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) suspended El Encanto in the city’s center after an inspection revealed the health violations.
Authorities from the Comisión Federal de Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios (Cofepris) reported finding hundreds of attendees inside the beach club, many of whom were not wearing mouth masks and / or practicing healthy distancing.
Officials say the club failed to respect state health regulations issued during yellow epidemiological light, during which time, mass gatherings and parties are prohibited due to the rebound in Covid-19 infections.
