Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An accountant who helped himself to company funds then threatened the owner has been charged with embezzlement.
The charges date back to September of 2023 when Fabián Arturo “N” began working in a company owned by the victim. “Abusing his position as an accountant, he embezzled a large amount of money,” the State Attorney General (FGE) reported Monday.
According to the FGE report, the owner of the company spoke with Fabián Arturo “N” on several occasions about the theft, however, “the now detained man told him that he would not return the stolen money and threatened him so that he would not report the incident since he had located him and his family.
“In addition, he demanded a million pesos from him so as not to harm them,” authorities reported.
After the corresponding complaints, a judge issued an arrest warrant. A judge has issued a two-year preventative sentence on Fabián Arturo “N”.
