Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Speed and wet roads made for slippery driving conditions in Playa del Carmen Friday night. Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident south of Playa del Carmen after the driver of a pickup slammed into a pole.
When they arrived, they found a passenger transport van had also collided with the truck that hit the pole. That collision happened when the pickup ricocheted off the pole and into oncoming traffic.
Several staff from a local company were traveling inside the passenger van at the time of the accident. Those inside suffered only minor injuries. There was no report on the condition of the driver of the pickup truck.
Material damage to the truck was extensive. Elements of the National Guard and Civil Protection were on scene until a tow truck arrived to clear the vehicles.
