Pemex gas line vents spew black smoke after catching fire

Ecatepec, Mexico — A Pemex gas line caught fire Thursday in Ecatepec. The General Directorate of Citizen Security Nezahualcóyotl reported the fire on social media.

At the time of reporting, the agency said there were no injuries in the fire, which was located in Río de Los Remedios and Valle de Guadalupe in the limits of the municipality of Ecatepec, where there are vents.

Firemen, along with members of the National Guard and the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), were on scene. A thick column of black smoke could be seen for kilometers around Mexico City.

According to first reports, several of the gas pipeline vents had caught fire.
