Pedestrian killed after hopping guard rail on Playa del Carmen Boulevard

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Traffic was congested Monday morning during a pedestrian accident that left one man dead. Playa del Carmen Transit Police had a section of the boulevard closed near Centro Maya around 10:30 a.m.

The unidentified man was trying to cross Playa del Carmen Boulevard when he was struck by a company truck. The speed of the impact caused him to be projected several meters ahead of the vehicle.

According to a briefing by the Seguridad Pública Solidaridad (SSP), “the high lane on Playa del Carmen Boulevard, from south to north (at the height of the Chedraui self-service store) was closed (…) after a traffic event in which a man lost his life after trying to cross the road by climbing over the guard rail and being hit by a truck.”
