Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Forensics were called in Saturday to remove the body of a man who died after being hit by a truck. The unnamed man was a local resident of Playa del Carmen.
It was around 2:00 p.m. when emergency services were informed that a man of around 50 years of age had been hit while riding his work tricycle. Emergency responders arrived at the scene location of 80th Avenue and 12th Street.
The driver of a dump truck was arrested after witnesses identified him as the driver of the truck that hit the tricycle. According to reports from witnesses, the dump truck dragged the man for several meters before he finally dislodged from under the truck.
The tricycle was found crumpled on the street behind a parked car meters from the body when police arrived.
The driver of the black dump truck was reportedly attempting to merge onto the street when he hit the tricycle. The rider of the tricycle was declared dead at the scene. Arresting officers did not comment on possible charges.
