Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Playa del Carmen taxi driver who hydroplaned on the federal 307 ended up on his roof. The speeding driver, according to witnesses, lost control of his taxi as he passed over a deep puddle of left over rain water on the highway.
The Saturday afternoon accident south of Playa del Carmen left the car on its roof in the center median of the highway. The taxi driver, who was the sole occupant, was not injured in the rollover.
The National Guard highway division responded to the 911 call for assistance. A tow truck eventually arrived to upright and haul the cab away.
