Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A woman accused of attempting to extort a victim using Messenger will continue her legal proceedings behind bars. The woman, Norma M, has been ordered to remain in preventative detention after a municipal judge order her continued detention as a precautionary measure.
In a press release, the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office reported that specialized investigators established that the victim began to receive different messages via Messenger in which the extortionist demanded money in exchange for not attacking him, to which he agreed.
When he arrived at the agreed upon location in the Ejido area of Playa del Carmen, police moved in during a sting operation and made their arrest.
