Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Playa del Carmen man believed to have been the fleeing victim of a stabbing was found dead Sunday. The medical examiner was requested at the fatal scene in Playa del Carmen Sunday morning. Residents reported a dead man laying on a public road in Villas del Sol around 8:00 a.m.

When police arrived, they found the man laying on a sidewalk of Laak Avenue. He had been stabbed seven times and shot twice. Municipal officers responding to the residential report requested paramedics, however, the man was confirmed dead at the scene.
According to early information, the man, of around 35, is believed to have been fleeing attackers when he was shot twice. He was likely stabbed when he began to run and was shot twice trying to get away.
Ministerial Police sectioned off the residential street while personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office collected evidence and removed the body. Police have not identified the victim or provided a possible motive for the deadly attack.
