PDC residents left powerless after rotted CFE pole collapses onto street

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Residents in the Ejidal neighborhood of Playa del Carmen were left without electricity for several hours Friday. The area was cut of its power after a city pole collapsed onto the street.

A Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) power pole in poor condition collapsed with its transformer on 12th Street and 100 Ave. in the Ejidal neighborhood. Large residential sections were left without electricity due to the felled pole.

CFE personnel arrived to replace the collapsed pole that fell over due to extreme deterioration of its concrete structure and reinforcement rods.
