PDC police arrest Canadian for sexual assault and attempted injuries with a machete against woman

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Solidaridad Municipal Police have arrested a Canadian man accused of sexually assaulting a woman. The now-detained is also accused of trying to injure her with a machete. The incident happened in the Mayakoba subdivision in north Playa del Carmen Sunday.

Officers from the Preventive Police arrived at Rosaleda Street in the Mayakoba residential subdivision of Playa del Carmen where they arrested 41-year-old Alexandre “N” from Canada.

According to an SSC (Seguridad Ciudadana Solidaridad) statement, Alexandre “N” “was holding a machete and threatening a woman who was on the roof of a house. The victim stated that she had been sexually abused by the detainee.”

The Canadian man was placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office for the corresponding investigations. The victim received psychological support and legal advice from the Specialized Group for Attention to Domestic and Gender Violence (GEAVIG), police said in their public report.
