Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A male motorcycle passenger was killed Thursday after the driver skidded under a the Maya Train overpass. Police were at the early morning scene in Villas del Sol where they found two injured men.
Paramedics were called in to confirm the death of the passenger. The accident happened near Quinto Parque in the Villas del Sol subdivision Thursday morning.
The victim was riding without a helmet and died from head injuries after the driver lost control on Avenida Gansos around 5:40 a.m. Agents from the Traffic Department arrived and proceeded to arrest the driver of the bike, Mario “N”.
According to witnesses, the driver of the motorcycle was traveling at excessive speed and unable to control the motorcycle after hitting a pothole. Both men were thrown from the bike.
