Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man traveling near the Cristo Rey area in the extreme west of Playa del Carmen was killed Monday in an accident. Police, military and paramedics responded to the report of a motorcycle driver colliding with the back of a cement truck.
According to early information, the accident happened when the driver of the motorcycle failed to reduce his speed in time when the driver of the cement truck ahead of him slowed down to make a U-turn.
The driver of the bike crashed into the back of the heavy unit. He was pronounced on scene. He is reported to have been a member of the National Guard on a day off when the accident happened.
