PDC mayor announces 4.3 billion pesos in projects for 2025

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Mayor Estefanía Mercado says that 2025 will be a historic year for Solidaridad. Mercado says “very good things will happen” that will be reflected in quality of life and prosperity for families.

At the beginning of the New Year, the Mayor sent a message reiterating that her government is of the people and for the people. “We are a citizen government, a government close to the people that works to bring well-being and prosperity to all,” she said.

In this context, she announced 900 million pesos will be invested this year in construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of public spaces such as the parks in Villas del Sol, as well as for the construction of streets and public lighting.

In addition, 100 million pesos will be allocated solely for sports infrastructure in order to address the significant gap that exists in this sector and provide quality spaces residents as part of the reconstruction of the social fabric.

Estefanía Mercado explained that another 278 million pesos will be invested in the paving of 12 main avenues, clarifying that on this occasion, the city council will supervise that the work complies with international standards so that the useful life of the paving is adequate.

She explained that the thickness of the pavement will be between 5 and 7 centimeters and not one centimeter as was done in the past.

Estefanía Mercado announced that important projects that were launched during the first days of her administration, such as the Civic Plaza of Puerto Aventuras, have already been inaugurated.

The Civic Plaza in Puerto Aventuras was inaugurated this week.

“We will be inaugurating various social infrastructure projects for the direct benefit of the people of Solidaridad. In just one hundred days we have restored three parks,” she announced.

Meanwhile, to improve the urban image of Playa del Carmen, the Solidaridad government will invest 228 million pesos to improve access to Playa del Carmen.

In addition, 40 million pesos will be allocated for the entrance arch to Playa del Carmen, which will have high-tech services. Another 19 million pesos will be used to pay for transport vehicles enabled as Citizen Security patrols and 168 million for the comprehensive service of collection, disposal and final destination of waste.

Estefanía Mercado said that there are many projects to be done and all of them represent an important step toward the transformation of Solidaridad, which, for this fiscal year 2025, has a budget of just over 4.3 billion pesos.
