PDC lifeguards save man suffering epileptic seizure from drowning

Playa del Carmen, Q. R. — A man who suffered an epileptic seizure was rescued from drowning on a Playa del Carmen beach. The incident happened late Saturday morning at the 12th Street public beach area in central Playa.

It was an on-duty lifeguard who saw the man having trouble in the water. It was around 11:30 a.m. when the tourist was noticed by the central beach lifeguard who rushed into the sea and returned him to the sand.

Paramedics were called who determined that although the man had swallowed a fair amount of water, he did not warrant a hospital transfer.
