Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The FGE Quintana Roo has began an investigation against an agent of the Playa del Carmen Investigative Police in the death of an inmate. On Friday, the FGE reported that the officer is being investigated after an inmate he was guarding committed suicide.
On Friday morning, a man was found dead by hanging inside a jail cell of the Playa del Carmen facility. The officer being investigated was on duty at the time of the incident. While the FGE reported that the guard has been arrested, they did not say if he was believed involved in the death.
