PDC firemen use jaws of life to remove partially ejected woman from rolled car

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Solidaridad firemen used the jaws of life to extract a woman partially trapped inside her rolled car Monday. Firemen were requested along the federal highway south of Playa del Carmen by nearby hotel staff who heard the accident happen.

Employees of the Riviera Maya hotel called emergency services around 10:30 a.m. after locating the rolled Ford Focus near their property. The female driver lost control of her car and left the highway from where it rolled onto a rocky shoulder area.

Emergency personnel from the municipality of Solidaridad attended the scene of the single vehicle accident. The woman was found partially ejected from her car. Firemen worked to fully remove her from inside the front of her overturned car. She was transferred to Playa del Carmen hospital.

On Monday afternoon, Civil Protection released a brief statement. “As a result of our personnel training, firemen successfully rescued a person trapped inside a vehicle after it overturned on the side of the federal highway.

“Members of the Secretariat of Civil Protection, Risk Prevention, and Firefighters arrived at kilometer 256, where they immediately began rescue operations to rescue a woman with half of her body trapped inside the Focus.

“After freeing her, they provided first aid and she was taken by ambulance to the hospital for recovery.”
