PDC firemen sent to put out fire in abandoned house

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen firemen spent more than an hour putting out a fire in an abandoned house. Firemen were sent to the home in the Nueva Creación neighborhood late Sunday afternoon after area resident reports.

They arrive at the 4:30 p.m. house report to find the house fully engulfed in flames. Due to the rapid spread of the fire, residents were concerned it would reach other homes. However, firemen were able to get the Othón Blanco Street house fire under control without it affecting other houses.

Police were also part of the responding team to cordoned off the area due to the home’s extensive damage. Authorities are still looking into a possible cause for the fire since the home had been vacant for several months.
