Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen firemen were not able to save a burning apartment, but they were able to save the family dog. On Wednesday, Solidaridad firemen dealt with a second story apartment fire on Paseo Xcacel.
Thick black smoke alerted other residents in the building, who made the 911 call. While firemen were putting out flames, one heard the cries of a dog from inside the Boca Paila building.
Inside was a Chihuahua. The owners of the apartment were not home at the time of the fire. Firemen had the fire out in about 30 minutes. There were no injuries, only substancial material damage.
Authorities continue to investigate what caused the apartment fire.
In a brief social message, SPC Solidaridad reported “Elements of the Fire Department responded to an emergency call of 9-1-1 for a fire in a house, which they fought with an offensive attack to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported and one dog was rescued completely unharmed.”
