Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Solidaridad firemen were able to save two dogs from an early morning fire in Playa del Carmen. Firefighters were at the scene of a home in the Cataluña II subdivision around 8:30 a.m. after a burning unit was reported to emergencies.
Neighbors who saw smoke coming from inside called the fire department. Upon arriving, firemen located two dogs trapped inside the home. They were able to reach the dogs and treat them at the scene.
One fireman was injured during operational tasks and taken to hospital for medical attention. Bomberos Solidaridad reported that the injured fireman is stable and has since been released.
There were no other injuries reported, only material damage. An official origin and cause for the fire remains under investigation.
In a statement early Monday afternoon, the Bomberos de Solidaridad said “firefighters rescued two dogs and put out a house fire in the Cataluña II subdivision. The prompt response of the elements allowed them to extinguish the flames and provide assistance to two dogs trapped inside, who received comprehensive care.
“Also during the operational tasks a firefighter required medical attention and was taken to the hospital, his health condition is reported stable and he has already been discharged. The origin and cause of the fire are unknown, only material damages were reported.”
