Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A family in west Playa del Carmen lost their home to a raging afternoon fire Monday. Solidaridad firemen were at the scene of the fire in Ejido Sur in response to an emergency services report.
The fire started around 5:00 p.m. inside a house with a thatched roof and quickly spread. Firefighters rushed to the 5th Street South and 95th Avenue location, arriving to what was left of a fully engulfed home.
The entire structure was consumed by fire before they arrived, threatening neighboring homes. Firemen were at the scene for more than an hour. There was no immediate word on a possible cause for the house fire.
