Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man died Friday night in central Playa del Carmen from an electric shock. The incident happened in the Zazil-Ha region of the city center. One person with him, a coworker, was transferred to hospital.

The man died when he was shocked while performing electric work for a business on 40th Street and 15th Avenue. The two men were changing a water pump in the kitchen of a small restaurant when one of them accidently touched a high-voltage cable dangling above the building.

Municipal police were called Friday night to the restaurant where they cordoned off the area in wait for local forensic personnel to remove the body. Playa del Carmen authorities have not commented on the accident.
